Attention Hadley-Luzerne Families,

On January 8, 2021, the district learned that four individuals in the Elementary School have tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals were in both the intermediate and primary wings of the building. They are now in quarantine and will have to recover and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

As of now, we will be closing the Elementary School Building for a 1-week period starting Monday, January 11, 2021, through Monday, January 18, 2021. All students will report to class virtually. This building closure will provide sufficient time to safely complete contact tracing and mitigate any risk of the potential spread of COVID-19 within the school regarding these cases. We feel that by doing this, we can confidently return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

As a reminder, if you or your child were in close proximity to this individual for a certain period of time, the County Department of Health will contact you directly. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

If you notice any of the common COVID-19 symptoms (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea), then please do not come to school. We encourage everyone to speak to their physician or a local healthcare provider about getting a COVID-19 test, should symptoms arise. We would also like to remind families that our in-house Hudson Headwaters Health Facility will be open next week. This facility can provide rapid, 15-minute testing, should you want to get your child(ren) tested.

We understand any frustrations this building closure may cause and we thank you for your patience during this extremely challenging school year. Please contact your child’s school office if you would like more information.

The Food Service Department is providing 7 days of breakfast and 7 days of lunch to all students K-12 for the week of January 11-15th while students are learning remotely.
