We ask that our Jr./Sr. High School students switch to a fully remote learning model starting Monday, January 4, 2021, through Monday, January 18, 2021. Students will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. This will be an “A” day and the White team will be expected to attend classes in-person.

Dear Hadley-Luzerne School Community,

First and foremost, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! 2020 has surely thrown many challenges our way, but I am thankful to have such a wonderful community to navigate these times with. All throughout, the Hadley-Luzerne school community has been incredibly patient, understanding, and resilient, regardless of what has come our way. I take comfort in knowing that with your strength and positivity, we will be able to take on 2021 in stride.

That being said, we initially planned on having our High School students return to in-person learning on Monday, January 4, 2021. However, the district has learned that an individual in the High School tested has positive for COVID-19. This individual is now in quarantine and will have to recover and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

Unfortunately, because of this, we are facing a temporary staffing shortage of essential personnel that we do not have the capacity to substitute appropriately.

  • This temporary staffing shortage and current COVID-19 case have not affected our transportation team at this time and BOCES and CTE students will still be transported to their classes. BOCES students will need to provide their own transportation to the school to ride this bus to BOCES.

  • Cafeteria Update: All Jr./Sr. High School students are encouraged to sign up for FREE meals that will include 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches. These meals will be available for pick up on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 4:30-5:30 pm, or on Tuesday, January 5, from 9:00 am -12:00 pm. Please contact Jaclyn Adler at adlerj@hlcs.org for more information or to sign up. Please do so by Saturday, January 2, 2021, to receive meals for the week of January 4th.

As always, we continue to work with the Warren and Saratoga County Health Departments on contact tracing efforts. The Department of Health will contact any individuals that have been exposed.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

We understand any frustrations this building closure may cause and we thank you for your patience during this extremely challenging school year. Please contact your child’s school office if you would like more information.

Sincerely,

Beecher Baker Sr., Superintendent of Schools
